Twilight The Graphic Novel Update

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive sneak peak at the new Twilight graphic novel by Stephenie Meyer. In the January 29 issue which hit newsstands on January 22, ten pages from Twilight, The Graphic Novel are shown along with a Q&A with author Stephenie Meyer.

Yet another Twilight series, you ask? Yes, the same Twilight series but with a different twist. In case you are unaware, a graphic novel is a story told through ilustrations and captions much like a comic book, yet the subject matter can range from non-fiction to fictional works.

What will be most noticeable to fans is that the characters of Bella and Edward look nothing like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson who play Bella and Edward in the Twilight movie. Korean artist Young Kim created the images for this 224-page book.

Stephenie Meyer explains the look of the characters saying that it was important that the graphic novel be "an interpretation of the novel, rather than a cartoon version of the movie."

Kim based the graphics on the description from the characters in the original Twilight book. "The images are much closer to the characters I see in my head than any actual human being could be," Meyer explains.

Twilight, The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 will be released on March 16, with a first printing of 350,000 copies. Meyer's website states: "Due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into two volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming."

The graphic novel cost $19.99.
